| The 2008 Nebraska State Fair Championships |
The 16th Annual Nebraska State Fair Championship Races Friday, August 29th
The 16th Annual Nebraska State Fair Championship Races are scheduled
for Friday, August 29th at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds in Lincoln, NE. The
race has become a popular stop on the route to IMCA Boone Supernationals,
(which will officially begin on Monday, September 1st this year), as it is the
last IMCA sanctioned points race for IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Hobby Stocks
before Boone starts and its one of the last races of the nationwide IMCA
racing season.
Last years races saw the addition of the NAPA Night at The Races
Nebraska IMCA Hobby Stock State Championship Race, which pitted the top
2 IMCA Hobby Stocks from 8 local tracks against each other in a 16 car, 20
lap race. Johnny Saathoff is proud to announce that NAPA Auto Parts IMCA
Hobby Stock Special will return this year with the addition of drivers from two
more local tracks, making it a 20 Car - 20 Lap Special. The IMCA Hobby
Stock State Championship races pays $500 to win and $100 to start.
In addition to the NAPA IMCA Hobby Stock race, Johnny "The Jet" will also
run features for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Mods.
Three years ago, Nebraska State Fair officials approached veteran and 4
time IMCA national champion, Johnny "The Jet" Saathoff, to promote the
Nebraska State Fair Championship Races. Since then, "The Jet" has left his
own ride at home each year and focused on providing an excellent event for
the drivers and fans. And so far, he has done exactly that. All three years that
the race has been promoted by John, the race has seen great driver turnout,
generous prizes for both drivers and fans, and a packed house.
But, the fans and drivers who make the Nebraska State Fair Championship
Races will soon be left behind as the Nebraska State Fair makes its move to
Grand Island. And the Grand Island facility has no plans for including a dirt
track for racing events. The fair is scheduled to be moved by 2010, so the
2008 and 2009 races may well be the last Nebraska State Fair Championship
Races.
Important: This year early entry fees are available to those who register by
August 25th, 2008. All entries received after August 25th, including those
received on the night of the race will be considered late and charged
accordingly.
